Book Reader Sends Cobalt Photos-1959

Randi (Deacon) Hunsaker sent these pictures via her sister Jordy after my book was published.  The pictures were processed in December of 1959, but were most likely taken between July and September of 1959.

This is a view of Cobalt to the South taken from across the canyon.

This is view of the company housing in the North end of town. I am not sure what the circle means. Perhaps someone can identify who was living in the house in 1959.

UPDATE (10 Oct 2009):

Randi Hunsaker writes in an e-mail:

I just noticed your posting of the pictures Jordy and I shared with you!  Jordy was the one who climbed the hill to take the pictures…I was the one who saved them!!

The circle is around the house we lived in from 1955-January of 1960.  Our Dad was the Chief Accountant [I think that was his title] during those years.  We moved from mining town to mining town because he had begun his studies in mining engineering but when he began to develop black lung while working his way through university in the mine at Britannia Mines during his summers back in the 30s, he changed his major to accounting specializing in mining.  Do you know who might have lived in that house prior to our occupying it?  Have you come across any lists of residents of Cobalt during those years?

Thanks for bringing back our memories of Cobalt!
